Approach and Background

Junko’s clinical experience began at Hozumi Clinic, a Psychiatric Medical Center in 1979. Since then she has worked in a variety of counseling facilities as a counselor and psychotherapist for a variety of people suffering from mental or psychological problems such as depression, anxiety disorders including social anxiety disorder and various types of phobias, personal relationship problems, family crisis and parenting issues, menopause and old age issues, trauma, PTSD, stress management, career planning, cultural adjustment and multicultural relationships.

Since 1998 she has been providing counseling and psychotherapy to civil servants at the High Court of Japan. In her position as a Clinical Psychologist at the Hitachi Chuo Research Institute she works with scientists providing counseling and working with stress management and mental health issues of the workplace. In both of these positions she also provides presentations and lectures on stress management, recognition of depression in others, mental health care and prevention of depression, and stress, overwork and suicide issues,

Junko uses an Integrative Psychotherapy approach with her clients with an emphasis on Person Centered Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She focuses on listening to each client's issues very carefully and helps her or him to find effective solutions to her or his problems in an efficient and long lasting way.
