Intergrative Psychotherapy International Symposium Tokyo Japan

The Association of Japanese Clinical Psychologists (AJCP) Two-Day International Mental Health Sypmposium and Workshop on Intergrative Relational Psychotherapy for Japan Licensed Mental Health Professionals was held at the Ochanomizu University in Bunkyouku Tokyo on 31st March and 1st April, 2012.

On Saturday 31st March Dr. Paul L. Wachell conducted the first day's workshop on his groundbreaking work in the field of Intergrative Psychotherapy, as represented in his latest book, "Relational Theory and the Practice of Psychotherapy". Dr Wachtel's well-known work in the field of integrative theory draws on psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, systemic, and experiential perspectives, highlighting convergences that are obscured by different terminologies and clarifying where the differences are real and important.

The second day's workshop was conducted by Dr Ellen Wachell, a leading pioneer integrating systemic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives, Her acclaimed book, "Treating Troubled Children and Their Familiies" presents an innovative framework for therapeutic work and in it she "shows how parents and children all too often get entangled in patterns that cause grief to both generations, and demonstrates how to help bring about change with a combination of family-focused and child-focused interventions".
